Where it all begins...

The first blog post seemed a most fitting place to delve into the beginning stages of my process of creation. Here’s some examples of the original sketches for past collections. After a few weeks of mentally chewing on a selection of colors I’ve been drawn to, I narrow it down to a selection of hues and shades that I’ll then work with achieving in natural dyes.
This chromatic development combined with channeling a broader feeling or mood come together in a fun sort of paper doll session. I prefer to leave the figure out at this point and make them like little mini works of art. After this the shapes are tested out on the body, dyes are tested on fabrics, some things work, some things don’t, and pretty much everything changes from this point! It’s always a trip looking back at where the earlier collections started…
